How to use the temperature converter
Type a number into any of the three boxes – Celsius, Fahrenheit or Kelvin – and the other two update as you type. Use the quick buttons for common temperatures, or the charts below the converter for body temperature, weather and oven settings.
Temperature conversion formulas
- Celsius to Fahrenheit:
°F = °C × 9 ÷ 5 + 32. Example: 37 °C × 1.8 + 32 = 98.6 °F. - Fahrenheit to Celsius:
°C = (°F − 32) × 5 ÷ 9. Example: (100.4 − 32) × 5 ÷ 9 = 38 °C. - Celsius to Kelvin:
K = °C + 273.15. Example: 37 °C = 310.15 K.
Quick mental trick: to estimate °F from °C, double it and add 30. For 25 °C, that's 80 °F – close to the exact 77 °F. It works best for everyday weather temperatures. And one fun fact: −40 is the same in both scales, because −40 °C = −40 °F.
Body temperature and fever
Many thermometers in India show °F, while doctors and health guidelines often use °C. A body temperature around 37 °C (98.6 °F) is the classic "normal" figure, though normal temperature varies from person to person and through the day. A temperature of 38 °C (100.4 °F) or higher is commonly treated as a fever.
This converter is only for converting numbers. If you or a child has a high or persistent fever, or other worrying symptoms, contact a doctor – and seek urgent care for very high temperatures, a fever in a young baby, or signs like difficulty breathing or confusion.
Cooking and baking
Many recipes from the US list oven temperatures in °F, while most ovens and OTGs in India are marked in °C. A recipe that says 350 °F needs about 175–180 °C (exactly 176.7 °C). Fan or convection ovens often need a temperature about 10–20 °C lower than the recipe says – check your oven's manual.
Frequently asked questions
