Friend Duel: share the same puzzle

Friend Duel generates a board from a seed and puts that seed in the page address. Anyone who opens your link gets the identical numbers and the identical target, so the comparison is fair. No account, app or sign-up is involved on either side.

Play Friend Duel

Step by step

  1. Open Friend Duel. A seeded board is created and the seed is added to the address bar.
  2. Solve the board, or give it your best attempt.
  3. Press Share challenge. On a phone this opens the normal share sheet; on a desktop the link is copied.
  4. Send the link however you like. Your friend opens it and plays exactly the same board.
  5. Compare attempts and times. Press New challenge for a fresh seed.

Tips that actually help

  • Share the link before telling them your score. Knowing the answer changes how the puzzle feels.
  • The link contains only a seed, so it is safe to post anywhere. It carries no personal information.
  • The same link always produces the same board, so it can be reused later or sent to several people.

How seeded boards work

The seed is a short random string used to generate the numbers deterministically. Because generation is a pure function of the seed, the same seed always produces the same board on any device. That is what makes the comparison meaningful without needing a server to store anything.

What the link contains

Only the seed. There is no player name, score, identifier or tracking parameter, and nothing about your visit is uploaded when you share. Someone opening your link is simply given the same puzzle.

Common questions

Does my friend need an account?
No. They just open the link in a browser.
Will they get exactly the same numbers?
Yes. The board is generated from the seed in the link, so it is identical everywhere.
Can I reuse a challenge link?
Yes. The same link always produces the same board.
