Practice Grid: unlimited number puzzles
Practice Grid uses the same connected-chain rules as the daily puzzle, with no limit on how many boards you play and three difficulty levels to choose from. It is the right place to learn the mechanic, because nothing you do here affects your daily streak.
Play Practice GridStep by step
- Choose Easy, Medium or Hard from the switch at the top of the card.
- Build a connected chain of four tiles that matches the target, exactly as in the daily puzzle.
- Press Check chain to submit. The game reports how far above or below the target you landed.
- Use Retry to attempt the same board again, or Next grid for a fresh one.
Tips that actually help
- Start on Easy even if you find the daily puzzle comfortable. Smaller numbers make the connection rule easier to internalise.
- Hard mode gives you only two attempts, so plan the whole chain before your first submission.
- Retrying the same board after a miss teaches more than moving on, because you already know how far off you were.
- If a target looks impossible, check the corners. Corner tiles have only two neighbours and are often the missing link.
What each difficulty changes
Easy uses numbers from one to six and gives four attempts, which suits learning the movement rule. Medium uses one to nine with three attempts and matches the daily puzzle. Hard uses two to twelve with only two attempts, so the arithmetic is heavier and there is far less room to guess.
How practice boards are generated
Each board is created from a seed, and the target is calculated from a real chain that exists on that board. A solution is therefore always present, at every difficulty. Practice results never affect the daily streak.
Common questions
- Does practice affect my daily streak?
- No. Only the daily board changes your streak.
- How many puzzles can I play?
- As many as you like. Next grid generates a new board every time.
- Which difficulty matches the daily puzzle?
- Medium. It uses the same number range and the same three attempts.
